service assistant (SEASONAL)
POSITION SUMMARY
The service assistant is responsible for bussing & cleaning tables, washing glassware, running food orders, and re-stocking service ware in our Portland Taproom. This position requires a hardworking, hospitality-minded individual who can uphold high standards of excellence in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Reinforcing the company culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance
- Bussing tables, restocking items, maintaining a clean workspace, and ensuring FOH is safe and meets or exceeds expectations at all times
- Washing & maintaining clean glassware/barware levels in taproom & Garden bar areas
- Promptly transporting food orders from the Kitchen to guest tables
- Assist in setting up and breaking down for events or daily operations
- Anticipating guest and team needs
- Relay customer feedback to FOH management
- Uphold responsible alcohol service, sanitation, and food safety principles
- Constantly striving to enhance the guest experience
- Willingness to go the extra mile for guests & fellow team members
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, skills, & abilities:
- Welcoming and helpful attitude
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to utilize independent problem-solving and decision-making skills in real time
- Ability to multitask and prioritize competing needs during high-volume service periods
- Must be 21 years of age or older

delivery driver (PART-TIME SEASONAL)
POSITION SUMMARY
The part time driver will be working with the Wholesale team to deliver Bissell Brothers’ beer all throughout the state of Maine. This position requires the ability to routinely lift up to 160 lbs, ability to spend long hours on the road, a flexible and agreeable disposition, and a general enthusiasm for the brewing process and beer industry. This position reports directly to the Director of Wholesale, but also takes direction from the Fleet and Warehouse Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ability to honor Bissell Brothers Brewing values
- Must be able to work as part of a team and in close quarters with coworkers
- Deliver brewery products to customers including bars, restaurants, and retail locations following a set schedule
- Ensure all products are delivered in good condition
- Interpersonal communication skills are a must
- Proficiency in navigating throughout Maine preferred, while driving cargo vans and box trucks
- Autonomous work ethic and inherent trust is compulsory because some solo work may be necessary
- Must be confident lifting 60-160lbs
- Commercial driving history preferred
- Must be comfortable moving throughout active kitchen/bar spaces
- Other tasks as necessary
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, skills, & abilities:
- Current driver’s license required
- Must be able to pass Driver’s Record Check
- Ability to safely operate, maneuver, navigate, and drive a vehicle
- Maintain vehicles in good working condition
- Ability to listen and talk to others to convey information effectively
- Previous experience in distribution preferred
- General beer and brewery knowledge experience preferred
- Ability to be trained on Bissell Brothers Inventory
- Ability to carry on an existing interest in beer and core understanding of beer industry in Maine
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask responsibilities routinely
- Must be of legal age to work with alcohol
- Alcohol Responsibility; full understanding that they are a representative of not only BBB, but of the alcohol beverage industry and must honor the BBB responsible use policy

LINE COOK (SEASONAL)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Line Cook of Bissell Brothers Kitchen will be trusted with upholding kitchen standards, alongside maintaining a positive attitude, and a clean work environment. This position reports directly to the Head Chef.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The qualified applicant will:
- Follow proper sanitation by maintaining cleanliness and complying with proper food handling and storing procedures
- Be responsible for using kitchen equipment and tools to prepare ingredients for finished products which includes chopping, mixing, making sauces and using various methods such as frying, sautéing, and grilling
- Help maintain kitchen & kitchen equipment by keeping a high standard of order & cleanliness
- Be able to produce consistent products in fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strive to meet the high standards Bissell Brothers holds, and work that into the kitchen work environment & customer experience
- Clean the kitchen areas as needed before and after service
- Clean tools and equipment continuously throughout the day
- Communicate with Head Chefs, and lead line cooks, when item quantities are low
- Perform other duties as necessary

DISHWASHER (SEASONAL)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Dishwasher at Bissell Brothers is responsible for maintaining a continuous flow of clean utensils, dishware, and prepware, ensuring items needed to complete all stages of service are clean, available, and ready to use.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Work with the Head Chefs, and the entirety of the kitchen and Bissell Brothers Team to promote a collective positive effort, good Team spirit, and high morale among the kitchen Team
- Follow proper sanitation guidelines and maintain a clean and organized workstation
- Complete light to moderate prep work
- Have a desire to learn and grow in an awesome work environment
- Arrive for work on time and in a timely manner
- Prioritize tasks to meet the changing demands in a fast paced environment
