In Portland we are thrilled to present Bissell Brothers Kitchen: brand new dining experience in our taproom. Current hours are Thursdays–Saturdays from 12-7, and Sundays from 12–5. Learn more here. If you visit us while the kitchen is closed, you are more than welcome to bring your own food.
Bissell Brothers Three Rivers currently offers a rotating schedule of food vendors listed here.
We do not take reservations for either our Portland or Three Rivers locations. Seating and service (for both drinks and food) are on a first-come, first-serve basis regardless of the size of your party.
We have closely followed CDC guidelines since the beginning of the pandemic and will continue to do so. Per state and federal regulations, mask use is recommended for those who aren’t vaccinated. As always, we plan to treat everyone with respect and kindness, and we hope you do the same.
No. We have discontinued our online preorder system as of Monday 5/31. It was a pandemic-induced service that we hoped to continue, but it’s too much for us to manage now that our taproom is open. Apologies for any inconvenience!
Please note that if you’re looking to pick up beer quickly, our updated taproom set up has registers that are specifically for to-go beer and merchandise purchases. So if you want to get on your way as fast as possible, look out for the “to-go beer & merch” signs and head there to place your order.
Yes, you can still preorder beer and merch online to pick up during business hours – 12-8pm Fridays and Saturdays, and 12-6pm on Sundays. Find a parking spot and head inside to our bar where someone from our team will get your order.
Yes, as long as the person picking up the order has valid 21+ ID and all of the order details, they may pick up the order on your behalf.
For the most up-to-date list of what’s currently available from our Portland location, please refer to this list of available brands on our website (and case counts for each brand) that is updated daily.
For the most up-to-date list of what’s currently available to-go at our Milo location, please refer to Three Rivers’ online ordering page.
We post a release schedule for our Portland location each week on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. We also update it on our website. Three Rivers receives a truck of fresh beer from Portland each Wednesday – please follow them on Instagram and Facebook for updates.
It wasn’t us! Parking on Thompson’s Point is managed by a third party unaffiliated with Bissell Brothers. If you don’t pay at the pay stations/kiosks that are set up throughout the lot, they will ticket your vehicle
We do our best to remind our customers to pay for parking verbally and via signage at both of our entrances. Please see the kiosks for more information.
The Portland Transportation Center is a 7 minute walk from our brewery and taproom, which has an Amtrak station and Greater Portland Metro bus service (a new bus stop right next to the brewery is coming very soon!) The Portland Trail System connects right to Thompson’s Point via the Fore River Trail, which is an easy way to get here on foot or by bike if you’re local. And last but not least, taxis or car services are always a solid option.
We do not offer flights because we encourage that each beer be enjoyed individually. We offer pour sizes depending on the style beer you order (12oz, 16oz, and/or 20oz), and half-pours (6oz) of all of our beers if you’d like to try a little less.
Not at this time. We release Swish on a regular basis throughout the colder months only, with the last release of the season usually scheduled for springtime.
No. It is against the law for us to ship beer in Maine, within the state or outside of it.
We do not sell kegs directly to customers from either location. Bier Cellar located in Portland, Maine frequently receives kegs from us that are available on a first-come, first-serve basis – contact them for more information. Or feel free to use our Beer Finder (Maine only) to find a bottle shop near you and contact them, they may be able to special order kegs.
Yes! We can ship merchandise anywhere in the USA including glassware, apparel, stickers, and more. See our full selection and place your order here.
Sorry, not at this time. For just over a year after our taproom closed for on-site pours due to the pandemic, we offered home delivery to many zip codes throughout the state of Maine – but for now, we have indefinitely paused our home delivery program. Thank you so much to all who ordered while it was available!
Yes! We have gift cards valid for purchases of beer and merchandise online or in person at both locations. Available for purchase here in any amount you choose to be instantly emailed along to a lucky recipient.
Take a look at our Beer Finder to see where in Maine you can enjoy our beer on draft or in cans. Locations on this map aren’t guaranteed to have our beer in stock, as they may be sold out or closed for the season. Please reach out to them directly to confirm.
We self-distribute all over Maine – if you’re interested in carrying Bissell Brothers, please contact [email protected] for information on wholesale distribution. If you’re located out of state, please see the following FAQ about out-of-state distribution.

Humulone, a type of organic acid, is a bitter-tasting chemical compound found in the resin of mature hops (Humulus lupulus). It’s a prevalent member of a class of compounds known as alpha acids, which give hoppy beer its characteristic bitter flavor.
As much we love dogs, we do not allow them in our Portland taproom or out on our patio unless they are service animals.
We DO allow dogs in the Three Rivers taproom and on the patio – but they must be on a leash at all times and well-behaved.
We are honored you would think of us for your special event, but we do not rent out our taproom at either our Portland or Three Rivers locations.
