There is no greater power than that of community
We are supported and encouraged. We develop relationships and create lasting connections. We feel the impact and we see the influence. Giving strength to the organizations that have a direct impact on our home state has become a passion. Thanks to you, Bissell Brothers is able to give back $50,000 a year to Maine-based charities and organizations.
The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital
As of 2019, we have donated over $20,000 since Bissell Brothers was founded, and we are on track to contribute much more over the years. We feel fortunate to be involved with such a wonderful organization right in our neighborhood!
Friends of Baxter State Park
Bissell Brothers has pledged 3% of all taproom Preserve and Protect can sales to Friends of Baxter State Park. By purchasing P&P cans in our tasting room, you are also supporting our mission that means that you’re part of the solution! In 2018, Bissell Brothers was able to donate over $5,000 to FBSP and we will continue to do so throughout the years.
Full Plates Full Potential
Through our partnership, we have worked with Full Plates to set up food centers in Milo during the summer months when kids are in summer school, and even when they’re out of session. Full Plates Full Potential also hosts an annual fundraiser bowling tournament at Bayside Bowl in Portland. We are proud to have been able to participate in the event for two years and counting!
Maine Farmland Trust
We have formed a partnership with Maine Farmland Trust which, in its 20 years of service, has protected 300 farms and nearly 60,000 acres of farmland throughout the state while supporting over 900 farm families with services to grow strong businesses.
In its nearly 30 years, Portland Trails has cultivated a massive web of trails and pathways spanning 70 miles through the Greater Portland area. The trails service the area’s 300,000 residents and have big plans in the coming years!
Sebago Clean Waters
Sebago Clean Waters aims to protect water quality, community well-being, a vibrant economy, and fish and wildlife in the Sebago region through voluntary forestland conservation. These forests generate, filter, and sustain the Greater Portland area’s water supply, which is among the 50 cleanest in the country.
The Maine Brewshed Alliance
Clean water makes great beer. Clean, healthy rivers, lakes, and streams are vital to Mainers’ day-to-day lives. They help ensure safe drinking water, good habitat for fish and other wildlife, and support recreation and tourism. They also support our booming craft beer industry.
You Earned It Series - a Small Batch for Charity Based Brewing
Many foundations, charities and organizations have impacted our personal lives in some way. In 2019, Bissell Brothers launched the “You Earned It Series” in order to showcase various non-profit organizations in our wonderful Maine community. We utilize our pilot brew house and small-scale fermenter capacity to allow members of our team a chance to develop their own recipe, and then offer it to the tasting room. From these batches, $1000 is then donated to the organization of the brewer’s choosing. Through this program, we can make beer styles not normally found in our portfolio, offering our guests a variety outside the normal rotation, and also our team a chance to experiment with new ideas.
